We, the protestant church in Central Germany (hereinafter referred to as "EKM" or "we"), take the protection of your personal data and the legal obligations serving this protection seriously. II General information on data processing

We process personal data only to the extent permitted by law. Personal data is only passed on in the cases described below.

Personal data is deleted or protected by technical and organisational measures (e.g. pseudonymisation, encryption) as soon as it is no longer necessary for the purposes of processing. Deletion also takes place when a prescribed storage period expires, unless there is a need to continue storing the personal data.

Unless we are legally obliged to store the data for a longer period of time or to pass it on to third parties (in particular law enforcement agencies), the decision as to which personal data is collected by us, how long it is stored and to what extent you may have to disclose it depends on which functions of the website you use in each individual case.

III Provision of the website

1. General information

Each time our website is accessed, our system automatically collects data and information from the computer system of the accessing computer.

The following data is collected:

- Information about the browser type and version used
- Operating system used
- Internet service provider of the user
- IP address of your terminal device
- Date and time of access
- Websites from which the user's system accesses our website
- Websites that are accessed by the user's system via our website

This information is transmitted by your browser unless you have configured it to suppress the transmission of the information. In addition, your IP address is transmitted to third-party providers whose functions on our website are retrieved from their servers.

This personal data is processed for purposes of website functionality and optimisation, as well as to ensure the security of our information technology systems. This serves the fulfilment of our tasks and at the same time represents an ecclesiastical interest, which is why the processing is permissible according to § 6 No. 3, 4 DSG-EKD.

The personal data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required to achieve the purpose for which it was collected. In the case of the collection of personal data for the provision of the website, this is the case when the respective session has ended.

2. Cookies

Our website uses cookies. These are small text files that your web browser stores on your terminal device. Cookies help us to make our website more user-friendly, effective and secure.

Some cookies are "session cookies". Such cookies are deleted automatically at the end of your browser session. On the other hand, other cookies remain on your terminal device until you delete them yourself. Such cookies help us to recognise you when you return to our website.

With a modern web browser, you can monitor, restrict or prevent the setting of cookies. Many web browsers can be configured so that cookies are deleted automatically when the program is closed. Disabling cookies may result in limited functionality of our website.

The setting of cookies that are necessary to carry out electronic communication processes or the provision of certain functions desired by you (e.g. shopping basket) is carried out on the basis of § 6 No. 4 DSG-EKD. As the operator of this website, we have a legitimate interest in storing cookies for the technically error-free and smooth provision of our services. If other cookies are set (e.g. for analysis functions), these are dealt with separately in this data protection declaration.

3. Use of Social Media (Instagram)

We use the c't project "Shariff" on our website. "Shariff" replaces the usual share buttons of social networks and thereby protects surfing behaviour. "Shariff" integrates these share buttons of the social networks on our website only as a graphic that contains a link to the corresponding social network. By clicking on the corresponding graphic, you will be redirected to the service of the respective network. The Shariff button only establishes direct contact between the social network and our visitors when the visitor actively clicks on the Share button. Only then will your data be transmitted to the respective social network. If, on the other hand, the Shariff button is not clicked, no exchange takes place between you and the social networks. You can find more information about the c't project "Shariff" at http://www.heise.de/ct/artikel/Shariff-Social-Media-Buttons-mit-Datenschutz-2467514.html.

We integrate the following social networks with "Shariff" on our website: Instagram

4. Newsletter (MailChimp)

This website uses the services of MailChimp to send newsletters. The provider is Rocket Science Group LLC, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Suite 5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA.

MailChimp is a service with which, among other things, the sending of newsletters can be organised and analysed. When you enter data for the purpose of receiving newsletters (e.g. email address), this data is stored on MailChimp's servers in the USA.

MailChimp has a certification according to the "EU-US Privacy Shield". The "Privacy Shield" is an agreement between the European Union (EU) and the USA, which is intended to ensure compliance with European data protection standards in the USA.

With the help of MailChimp, we can analyse our newsletter campaigns. When you open an email sent with MailChimp, a file contained in the email (so-called web-beacon) connects to MailChimp's servers in the USA. This makes it possible to determine whether a newsletter message has been opened and which links, if any, have been clicked on. In addition, technical information is recorded (e.g. time of retrieval, IP address, browser type and operating system). This information cannot be assigned to the respective newsletter recipient. It is used exclusively for the statistical analysis of newsletter campaigns. The results of these analyses can be used to better adapt future newsletters to the interests of the recipients.

If you do not want any analysis by MailChimp, you must unsubscribe from the newsletter. For this purpose, we provide a corresponding link in every newsletter message. Furthermore, you can also unsubscribe directly on the website.

The data processing is based on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO). You can revoke this consent at any time by unsubscribing from the newsletter. The legality of the data processing operations already carried out remains unaffected by the revocation.

The data you have provided us with for the purpose of receiving the newsletter will be stored by us until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and will be deleted from our servers as well as from the servers of MailChimp after you unsubscribe from the newsletter. Data stored by us for other purposes (e.g. email addresses for the member area) remain unaffected by this.

For more details, please refer to the data protection provisions of MailChimp at: https://mailchimp.com/legal/terms/.

We have concluded a so-called "Data Processing Agreement" with MailChimp, in which we oblige MailChimp to protect our customers' data and not to pass it on to third parties. This agreement can be viewed at the following link: https://mailchimp.com/legal/data-processing-addendum/.

5. Contacting us via E-Mail

If you send us an email, the personal data you provide there will be processed by us. This information is transmitted by your e-mail client and stored in our information technology systems. The processing of this personal data is necessary to answer your enquiry. In addition, your IP address and the date and time of contact are stored.

The data processing serves to answer your enquiry and to ensure the security of our information technology systems. This processing is lawful according to § 6 No. 3, 4 DSG-EKD, because answering your request serves the fulfillment of our tasks and at the same time represents a church interest.

If a data subject contacts the controller by e-mail, the personal data transmitted by the data subject are automatically stored. Such personal data transmitted on a voluntary basis by a data subject to the controller will be stored for the purpose of processing or contacting the data subject. This personal data will not be disclosed to third parties.
